Philosophy

We at Middlebury Family Center believe that our most important role is to provide an environment where every child feels they are an important part of the school's community and where the child feels safe and happy. To accomplish this we ensure that every child is respected and feels a sense of trust between them and the staff at Middlebury Family Center.

All families' cultures should be appreciated and represented in the school community. We offer a program that is both child and teacher directed. Socialization and independent play have a large impact on our program. We believe that no matter what the age, children learn best by doing (investigating through play). It is important to us to get to know your child's interests, strengths, and challenges. Teachers create an environment that scaffolds children's inquiries and provides opportunities for every child to be successful in all areas of development.

Middlebury Family Center Parent Philosophy

MFC believes that the role of the parent is paramount when it comes to raising their child. We believe and respect that parents are their child's first and most powerful teacher. Parents know their child best. The staff at MFC welcomes input and direction from parents. Parents need to be involved with their kids and we want them involved. We respect their belief systems, moral values, and religious preferences.

Families can expect to receive open and honest communication about their child. Families can expect to receive day to day information about the activities and play their child engaged in that day. MFC provides for parents an attitude of team work in areas relating to their child's development. We offer parent conferences and progress reports on a quarterly basis. Families can expect us to observe the rules of confidentiality. We encourage parents to come to us any time they have a concern or suggestions.
